A warm welcome to Scoil Angela

Welcome to Scoil Angela, Ursuline Primary school Thurles website. If you are a current parent, I would hope that the website provides you with up to date information on the school and give you a little peep as to what we get up to  during the school day!

If you are a prospective parent may you be given a positive glimpse of Scoil Angela and be encouraged to contact us for further information. Visits to the school are always welcome and can be arranged by contacting the Principal Bridann Molony.

Scoil Angela is now Co-ed!

We are delighted to announce that we have extended our co-educational provision.

From September 2023, we are phasing in co-education from 2nd class so that more families can benefit from all that our wonderful school has to offer.

Music and performance are especially important in Scoil Angela. We love to sing and perform!

  • We are proud to be a Music Generation school and we enjoy weekly tuition from talented tutors.
  • Participants in Peace Proms Music Programme since 2016.
  • Finalists in Lyric FM Christmas Choral competition 2019.
  • Nominee in the Bord Gais Energy Student Theatre Awards.

  • ‘Operation Scoil Angela’ is a whole school initiative that promotes exercise, sport, health and well-being.
  • ‘Playground Sports for All’ programme at break times.
  • Sports Coaches from Thurles Gaels and Thurles Sarsfields/Durlas Og to teach fundamental ball skills, football, hurling and camogie.
  • Cumann na mBunscoil Football County Finalists 2023 & 2024
  • FAI Primary Schools 5 a side Munster Champions 2023.
    We know that active children are happy learners!

Positive Mental health and well-being!

  • There are teachers on staff trained to deliver the ‘Friends for Life’ Programme- a school based positive mental health programme for all children.
  • Our Junior and Senior Assemblies seek to develop the skills of resilience, with the children becoming aware of the ability to ‘bounce back’ from daily challenges.
